case study Department of Public Works

Re-lines storm water stacks at The Department of Public Works Head Office

Location:
Department of Public Works Head Office, West St, Durban, South Africa

Situation:
The Department of Public Works had eight 75mm cast iron storm water stacks that were leaking on all 6 floors. They also had four 50mm horizontal slab roof drains that were leaking. The 75mm stacks run from the roof of the building down to the ground floor and are incased in concrete wall columns.

Replacing the pipes was not an option. The Department of Public Works turned to Ganga Plumbers to re-line the pipes with Nu Flow.

Solution:
Ganga plumbers, a Nu Flow licensee, first cleaned the stacks using Nu Flow’s unique micro cutter cleaning tool. Ganga plumbers then re-lined the stacks with Nu Flow pull-in-place structural liners. They were able to re-line the pipe from existing access points without having to chop open the columns or cause any other damage to the building.

The end result is a “Nu Pipe” with in the old pipe.
