A “Nu Pipe” for Elim Mall
Site:
Elim Mall, Limpopo
Situation:
Elim mall had a continuous problem with a 110mm PVC pipe running from the bathrooms in one of the Banks to the main sewer line. The pipe was continually blocking and the shopping mall did not know why.
Nu Flow were called in to investigate the problem.
Upon arrival at the shopping mall, Nu Flow first camera inspected the pipe. Nu Flow found the 110mm PVC pipe to be damaged in multiple sections and an entire section of pipe missing at one point. The pipe is all running under parts of the building and as a result a pipe replacement would mean chopping open sections of the shopping centres floor – something Elim Mall wanted to avoid.
Solution:
Nu Flow unblocked and cleaned the 110mm PVC pipe using a high pressure jetting and then reline the broken sections of pipe. Once the pipe had been unblocked and cleaned, Nu Flow pulled an epoxy saturated liner into the pipe. Within the liner is a rubber bladder which is inflated when the liner is in position.
The bladder is left inflated until the epoxy has cured. Once the epoxy has cured, the bladder is removed leaving behind a ‘nu pipe’ within the host pipe.
