Nu Flow stops borehole contamination
Site:
Municipal Sewer line in Meyerton
Situation:
Nu Flow were called to reline a problematic municipal sewer line. The old cracked 160mm earthenware sewer line was leeching sewerage into the ground which was contaminating one of the residents boreholes.
The pipe runs from inside a golf course to the main municipal sewer line, but runs under the residential property with the affected borehole.
Even though the pipe only runs under soil and no buildings or structures, it would be difficult and costly to replace due to the depth of the pipe. The Municipality turned to Nu Flow for a quicker and less costly alternative.
Solution:
Nu Flow relined the sewer pipe with a structural liner working from two manholes as access points and thereby not needing to dig or excavate at all.
How its done:
An epoxy saturated liner is pulled into the pipe. Within the liner is an inflatable bladder. When the liner is in the correct position, the bladder is inflated and left inflated while the epoxy cures.
Once the epoxy has cured, the bladder is removed leaving behind a structural “nu pipe” within the old pipe.
