Relining pool pipes at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital

Site:
Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Johannesburg.

Situation:
Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, one of the oldest buildings in the area with historical associations, was experiencing water damage inside the record ofce every time it rained. This was due to a 200mm concrete storm water pipe which was leaking. The pipe was located in a 12 meter long wall. Replacing the pipe was not a viable option for this historical building for multiple reasons. Replacing the pipe would involve chopping open the wall, replacing the pipe and patching up the damage. This would cause large amounts of noise in the hospital over an extended period – a situation the hospital aimed to avoid. The hospital turned to Nu Flow for a quicker and less disruptive solution.

Solution:
Nu Flow South Africa relined the leaking 200mm concrete pipe with Nu Flow’s structural relining technology. Nu Flow rst camera inspected the pipe to determine the exact areas that needed rehabilitation. Nu Flow then pulled epoxy saturated liners into the pipe working from existing access points thereby causing absolutely no damage to the historic building. With in the liner is a bladder, which is inated when the liner is in position. The epoxy is left to cure, after which the bladder removed leaving behind a “nu pipe” with in the host pipe.
