Scaw Metals

Nu Pipe for Scaw Metals

Customer:
Scaw Metals, Vereeniging

Situation:
Scaw Metals Vereeniging were experiencing continuous blockages on a 160mm earthenware pipe running under their factory.
A CCTV pipe inspection revealed broken sections of pipe, which were causing the blockages.

Scaw Metals did not want to have use traditional plumbing methods to repair the pipe as this would involve clearing a section of the factory where the pipe runs, chopping open the factory’s floor slab, replacing the pipe and patching up the damage. The noise, disruption to business and time involved were major concerns.

Scaw Metal turn to Nu Flow’s technology for a faster and less disruptive solution.

Solution:

Nu Flow’s trenchless structural lining technology was used to reline the pipe working from a manhole outside of the factory and one inside.

An epoxy saturated liner was pulled into the pipe. Within the liner is a rubber bladder which is inflated when the liner is in position.
The bladder is left inflated until the epoxy has cured.

Once the epoxy has cured, the bladder is removed leaving behind a ‘nu pipe’ within the host pipe.

The relining was done in a day.

As a result of Nu Flow’s trenchless technology, minimal disruption was caused to the factory. It was business as usual for Scaw Metals.
