Pipe relining at River Square Shopping Centre
River Square Shopping Centre consists of 93-stores, located in the suburb of Three Rivers in the town of Vereeniging, a stone’s throw away from the Vaal River and boat launching jetty.
Problem:
Nu Flow were called to investigate a 160mm sewer line at the Shopping Centre which was constantly blocking. Plumbers would unblock it, and it would just block up again.
A camera inspection revealed that the pipe changed from earthenware to PVC and at this point there was a large gap causing blockages.
The earthenware pipe also had cracks in it. Although these cracks were not causing problems at the time, at some point the line would fail if no preventative action was taken.
The pipe runs under a shop and passageway. The mall did not want to break open the shops floor, dig down to the pipe, replace the problem section of pipe and then have to patch up all the damage.
They turned to Nu Flow for a faster, less disruptive solution.
Solution:
Nu Flow relined the 22 meter section of pipe from one manhole to another covering the problematic gap in the pipe as well as lining all the earthenware pipe in that section. This ensures the shopping centre will have no further problems on that section of pipe.
How it works:
An epoxy saturated liner is pulled into the pipe.
Within the liner is an inflatable bladder.
When the liner is in the correct position the bladder is inflated and left inflated until the epoxy has cured.
Once the epoxy has hardened the bladder is removed leaving behind a “nu pipe” within the host pipe.
NO chopping open!
NO damage!
NO mess!
